Furious George vs. Runaway Ford

On the Jerry Agar show yesterday, mayoral candidate George Smitherman challeneged opponent Rob Ford to a one-on-one debate on CFRB 1010.  On the Jim Richards show later that day, Ford accepted:

“He spends money right, left and centre by way of promises and he gives revenue away right, left and centre by way of promises,” Smitherman said of Ford.

“The only conclusion that can be drawn is that he’s got a secret agenda with a lot of service cuts in mind.  “I think he has to talk more frankly and I think this discussion on CFRB will be helpful to a lot of citizens of Toronto.”

Ford wasn’t listening to the show but reached afterwards, he said he’d be happy to go mano a mano with the combative Smitherman.

“Sure. Absolutely,” Ford said, adding he’s indifferent to how many people are invited to mayoral debates.”
