National Post Spotlights Races to Watch

Like the Globe and Mail previous, the National Post spotlights some of the races heating up in the various wards across Toronto:

WARD 9 (YORK CENTRE)

“Incumbent councillor Maria Augimieri has not yet registered, but her office confirmed yesterday she will be seeking re-election. She was thurst into the spotlight after the 2008 Sunrise Propane explosion, which produced a famous, televised scene in which she told constituent Tony Di Santo to “shut up.” Well, Mr. Di Santo is now backing Gus Cusimano, an insurance broker who said in January as he filed his papers, “City council needs a big change in direction.”

    Can someone do a story on candidates in Ward 32. We really need a new Councillor. Pleeeease!!

      Hey, Jerry;
      There is actually a very good alternative to Ms. Bussin running out in Ward 32 – his name is Bruce Baker.
      As I'm running next door to Mr. Baker in Ward 30, I met with him to discuss options, and found him to be thoughtful, with some real-life experience, a a good handle on the issues and a contempt for those who cover up figures and facts.
      Mr. Baker was a TTC driver (resigning after having 3 people jumped in front of his subway) and now plies his trade as a real-estate agent.
      He's worth checking out (and helping! taking on an incumbent requires financial and volunteer help…!)

  2. I'm running in Ward 7 too… Funny how they only mention two of the seven candidates… Guess they've already decided who to back… hag1.
