James: Candidates In A Race To The Right

The Star’s Royson James comments on the on-going battle between mayoral candidates George Smitherman and Rocco Rossi in an effort to stake out the right-of-centre territory in their platforms:

“There is a sense that the political winds have shifted. Toronto residents have grown increasingly skeptical of the political ideology governing city hall. Having been through a period of economic distress, they find it hard to stomach the current regime’s refusal to consider any kind of privatization of some transit routes or garbage services, and the sale of city assets.”
